How it works

Consumption = area × W/m² × hours × days / 1000. Multiply by the price per kWh for the season cost.

Worked example

80 m² × 100 W/m² × 8 h × 120 days = 7,680 kWh. At 0.20, that is 1,536 per season.

Recommendations

  • Well-insulated homes need 50–80 W/m², older ones 100+
  • Lower the thermostat 1°C to save ~7% on heating
  • Insulate the attic first — biggest heat loss

Tips & advice

  • Use a programmable thermostat
  • Bleed radiators at the start of the season
  • Close shutters at night to keep heat in
